OUR LOVE STORY
Our love story began in 2019 with a swipe right on Bumble - a dating app where the woman messages the man first (because feminism!). Gabrielle was impressed with how much Marco talked and communicated and Marco was delighted that Gabrielle took such an interest in his research.
They both agreed to meet for a coffee date at 1215 Wine Bar + Coffee Lab located in Cincinnati's historic Over-the-Rhine district - nearby where Marco was living at the time and a local favorite of Gabrielle's. A couple hours later, after a couple coffees and many conversations about food, wine, and life goals, Marco and Gabrielle agreed they wanted to see each other again.
Marco and Gabrielle liked each other so much, they thought it would be a nice challenge to fit as many major life stages as possible into a short timeline including: moving in together only after 6 months of knowing each other, both moving from the US during a global pandemic, Marco finishing his postdoc between Zurich and Italy, Gabrielle moving to Germany to start and finish her MBA, both moving to the Netherlands and starting new jobs, and buying a house - just to name a few.
It was then on 23 March 2024 while on holiday in Fuerteventura - 5 years and 2 weeks after their first date - Marco asked Gabrielle to marry him where she answered with a resounding "absolutely!" Nervously, Marco asked "absolutely what?!?" to which Gabrielle assured him "absolutely YES!"
